In addition to digital photography, we shoot film !
Our film wedding photography, using traditional analog film, consists of two main styles – direct flash wedding photography and available light wedding photography. Both are described by The Knot in this article. We typically combine both to bring you a documentary-style, storytelling approach. It’s a timeless, classic look that is as appropriate today as it was during the height of mid-century photojournalism – think LIFE Magazine and its legendary photographers.
Why film – the look and feel of film is simply magical. Ask us and we’ll be happy to discuss the science behind why and how.
Making each frame count – We don’t shoot hundreds of images per minute and hope to find one or two that are useable. The nature of film photography has us shooting conscientiously, making each frame count. We are more present and in-tune with our subjects. Because shooting film is inherent to this Zen experience, we’re able to record impactful images that author emotional stories. We use this training developed from shooting film wedding photography and apply it when shooting with digital photography as well.
Why else film – it’s archival, lasting more than a few lifetimes and possibly more. It’ll be an heirloom to pass onto your coming generations. It’s also completely future – proof. In a hundred years from now, whatever the digital technology might be or how it might work won’t matter. The black and white negative you have today will always be able to be rescanned over-and- over by future technologies-whatever they may be. You’ll always have your pictures. Obsolescence simply won’t happen.
